Today is Global Lifting Awareness Day!  #GLAD2022

A day that we, the people of the world-wide Lifting Equipment community, can celebrate being a part of this incredibly important, far reaching, global industry.

Lifting Equipment is everywhere. Every factory, construction site, mine, oil rig, wind turbine and workshop uses lifting as a staple part of their operation. Without the services, accessories, testing and equipment we provide, the whole world stops moving. This day is our day to spread the word on just how important we are to our clients, end users, safety professionals, and governments.

Like all the best ideas, GLAD can trace its origins to a conversation at a trade exhibition. A Trade Association, a PR Firm and a magazine publisher discussed the challenges facing lifting industries across the world.  Common ground was found and the Global Lifting Awareness Day was born.

Show off your best pictures, stories and ideas by posting on social media – using #GLAD2022 or send your videos to mail@leeaint.com so they are added to the globalliftingawarenessday.com site.

Global Lifting Awareness Day (GLAD) 7th of July 2022

  • The battle with gravity is essential to our way of life.
  • Fighting gravity is inherently dangerous and getting it wrong can lead to accident, injury and even fatality.
  • As we work higher, heavier and more complex – our ability to lift safely becomes ever more important.
  • This is a day when interested associations and others unite to share material which promotes safe and high quality load lifting

Who can be involved and what can they do?

Anyone with an interest in lifting and working at height can contribute to GLAD on 7th July 2022.

Participating can be as easy as using the hashtag #GLAD2022, adding the GLAD2022 logo to email signatures and reposting social media, all the way through to producing unique content.

We are particularly interested in material in the following areas (with a special LEEA Award going to the best submission)

  • Apprenticeships
  • Military recruitment
  • Diversity
  • Sustainability
  • Technology/Digital

GLAD has the following objectives

  • Ensure that end users/customers make well informed purchasing decisions by fully understanding their legal obligations
  • Attract new recruits into the sector through showcasing entrance pathways as well as career opportunities
  • Raise our profile with stakeholders and legislators who often forget about the importance of lifting and working at height
  • Celebrate the innovations and remarkable work going on within our industries
